Johnny Cash - At Madison Square Garden
Johnny Cash at Madison Square Garden is an album by Johnny Cash that was recorded in December 1969 at Madison Square Garden in New York City, but which was not released until 2002.
The CD was recorded just 4 months after Cash's seminal At San Quentin was released, which is probably why it was not released soon after its recording. As with all Cash live shows of this period, he was backed up by the Tennessee Three, which consisted of W.S. Holland, Marshall Grant and Bob Wooton. Also joining Cash on stage were the Statler Brothers, Carl Perkins and the Carter Family. Noticeably absent from the show was Cash's wife June Carter Cash, who was home pregnant with their son John Carter Cash.

Yatha Sidhra - A Meditation Mass (Brain 1973)
Wonderfully meditative, progressive music. The album consists of one track in four parts, mostly played on flute, percussions, guitar and some moog and el-piano too. Beautifully dreamy and atmospheric. Flute is simply one of my all-time favourite instruments! "Part 3" is a rather rocking jam that make some marvellous contrast, but in "Part 4", everything slows down to the pleasant and relaxing main part.
"Acid-drenched guitar, flute, keyboards, tablas and distant echoed vocals entangle into a psychedelic symphony...a guaranteed must for fans of early Ash Ra Tempel, Popol Vuh and Agitation Free."
This album is an unknown masterpiece, if you don't know it try it !

Grateful Dead - Watkins Glen Show 1973-07-28
The Summer Jam at Watkins Glen was a 1973 rock festival which received the Guinness Book of World Records entry for "Largest audience at a pop festival." An estimated 600,000 rock fans came to the Watkins Glen Grand Prix Raceway outside of Watkins Glen, New York on July 28, 1973, to see The Allman Brothers Band, The Band, and the Grateful Dead perform.
The crowd was so huge that the largest part of the audience was not able to see the stage; however, twelve huge sound amplifiers, installed courtesy of legendary promoter Bill Graham, allowed the audience to at least hear.
On July 28, the day of the concert, 600,000 music fans had arrived in Watkins Glen. The Grateful Dead performed first, playing two long sets. They opened with "Bertha" and played many hits such as "Box Of Rain", "Jack Straw", "Playing in the Band", "China Cat Sunflower" and "Eyes of the World".
Many historians claimed that the Watkins Glen even was the largest gathering of people in the history of the United States.

Grateful Dead - Watkins Glen Soundcheck 1973-07-27
This rehearsal was recorded in Watkins Glen Grand Prix Raceway outside of Watkins Glen, New York on July 27, 1973, where The Allman Brothers Band, The Band, and the Grateful Dead performed on the next day.Although the concert was scheduled to start on July 28th, thousands of music fans were already at the concert site on the 27th. Robbie Robertson of the Band requested to do a soundcheck, but was perplexed that so many people were sitting in front of the stage. Bill Graham allowed the soundcheck with the crowd of people in front, and the Band ran through a few numbers to the delight of the audience. The Allman Brothers Band did their soundcheck next, playing "One Way Out" and "Ramblin' Man". The Grateful Dead's legendary soundcheck turned into a two set marathon, featuring their familiar tunes such as "Sugaree", "Tennessee Jed" and "Wharf Rat". They also performed a unique jam that was eventually included on their retrospective CD box set So Many Roads (1965-1995).

Angelo Branduardi - Alla fiera dell'est
Alla Fiera dell'Est (English edition: Highdown Fair, 1976) was Branduardi's first vastly popular album, followed by La Pulce d'Acqua ("The Water Flea", 1978) and Cogli la Prima Mela (English edition, Life is the Only Teacher, 1979). In those albums Branduardi exploited themes and patterns from ancient music, mostly Renaissance and early Baroque. The very song Alla Fiera dell'Est ("At the Eastern Fair") is still popular among Italians of every age, who test themselves to send in memory all the fable-like, repetition-based lyrics.
Lyrics had a broad spectrum of inspiration: a Danse macabre, the theme of Satan's mistress, Chinese, Native American and Druidic tradition, the apocryphal Gospels. Concertation owes much to the talents of Maurizio Fabrizio, and exploits unusual instruments for pop music: dulcimer, Pan flute, lute, clarinet, among others - mixed with more standard guitar-bass-and-drums.

The Searchers - Most Of The Searchers @320
Among its 20 tracks, this Australian compilation contains all 12 of the Searchers' U.K. Top 40 hits and all seven of their U.S. Top 40 hits, which in some cases are not the same songs. For example, the group's debut British single, the chart-topping "Sweets for My Sweet," never charted in America, while their biggest U.S. hit, "Love Potion Number Nine," was not released as a single in the U.K. But they scored in both countries with hits like "Needles and Pins," "Don't Throw Your Love Away," "Some Day We're Gonna Love Again," "When You Walk in the Room," and "What Have They Done to the Rain" in 1964-1965, at first challenging the Beatles for popularity, at least at home, while eventually serving as a bridge from Merseybeat to folk-rock across the Atlantic. (It's hard to listen to the lilting harmonies and chiming guitars without reflecting on their profound influence on the Byrds.) By 1966, they were struggling to chart, probably because they never developed their own songwriting and had to depend on other people's material. But their performances here of P.F. Sloan's "Take Me for What I'm Worth," the Rolling Stones' "Take It or Leave It," and the Five Americans' "Western Union" demonstrate their interpretive abilities.

Aretha Franklin - Respect The Very Best Of
Aretha Franklin is an American institution. She began singing in her father's church choir, graduated to soloist by 12, and began her recording career as a gospel singer at 14. She crossed over to secular music when she was 18, belting out jazz, blues and pop standards for Columbia Records. Her move to the more R&B-friendly Atlantic Records in 1967 changed musical history.
Her list of achievements is astonishing. Beyond all the chart and sales statistics, and awards, stands one seminal achievement that blew some doors wide open. Franklin's call for "Respect" is one of the earliest examples of "girl power," a demand to regard women as equal to men.
Her incontestable title of Queen of Soul has not meant that she has confined herself to one particular style of music. She's recorded with artists as diverse as Eric Clapton, Eurythmics, George Michael, Whitney Houston, Elton John, and P. Diddy. She stepped in for an ailing Luciano Pavarotti at the 1999 Grammys, performing an opera standard. Not only is Aretha a soul music legend, but a longstanding legend of international popular culture.

Nektar - The Dream Nebula The Best of 1971-1975
NEKTAR is probably the most German-like of the Seventies British bands, a fame that owes a lot to the town in which this band was founded (Hamburg) and to their stylistic approach (Assimilated to Krautrock). NEKTAR was formed in 1969 by Allan FREEMAN (keyboards & vocals), Roye ALBRIGHTON (guitars & vocals), Derek MOORE (bass, Mellotron & vocals) and Ron HOWDEN (drums).
Their earliest albums were hard rock that drew heavily from the space-rock and PINK FLOYD styles of the same period. The 70’s gave them the occasion to issue some masterpieces, like for example "Remember the Future" (1973) and "Recycled" (1975). Each is a conceptual album that is a nice blend of melodic guitar and keyboards with a vocal story.

Karen Dalton - In My Own Time (1971)
This is a pic of Bob Dylan, Karen Dalton and Fred Neil at the Cafe Wha? on February 1961. Karen Dalton's In My Own Time (1971) was a collector's item fetching a pretty penny by music collectors. Back in the early Greenwich folk days, Dalton was considered a peer amongst the likes of Fred Neil and Bob Dylan, but she never reached the success of her friends. Her Billie Holiday-like alto had a rural twang and an otherwordly oddness to it that didn't translate to the general public, and as a result, she was mostly forgotten. She died homeless on the streets of New York in 1993.Devendra Banhart cites Dalton as his all-time favorite voice, and it's in part due to his trumpeting of her that we get a chance to hear In My Own Time. Banhart contributes to the liner notes, along with Nick Cave and Lenny Kaye (Patti Smith Group guitarist.) Her interpretation of the traditional songs "Katie Cruel" and "Same Old Man" (she plays banjo for both) is hauntingly beautiful. In them you can clearly hear how many of the Freak or Psych-folk artists today owe her props. Even a straight-up version of "How Sweet It Is" becomes more then that by Dalton's incredible pacing, as she slips and slides out of the rhythm we expect to hear.
Karen Dalton - In My Own Time (1971)1. "Something on Your Mind" - 3:23
2. "When a Man Loves a Woman" - 2:59
3. "In My Own Dream" - 4:18
4. "Katie Cruel" - 2:22
5. "How Sweet It Is" - 3:43
6. "In a Station" - 3:52
7. "Take Me" - 4:40
8. "Same Old Man" - 2:45
9. "One Night of Love" - 3:19
10. "Are You Leaving for the Country" - 3:14

Flower Power Sitar - Rajput and The Sepoy Mutiny
What's better than bad sitar? I don't know what this stuff is called (Sitarsploitation?) but it's some of the loopiest stuff I've ever heard. We start of chugging with "Flower Power" but things quickly go off track, "Flower Bed" sounds like a perversion of a familiar Christmas carol. The sitar player truly sounds like he's achieved Nirvana. The oddly named "Child of Love" pokes around not sure just what the heck is going on, scratching it's head while some piano closes the song out.
Great Cover, great track titles, yet very disappointing to listen to. This is one of the worst Sitarsploitation LPs I have heard.

04 - Do It With Flowers

09 - Ragadelic
10 - Child Of Love
