Hava Narghile - Middle Eastern Raga Rock 1966-1975 (Turkish Acid Rock Music)
Similar to the "Turkish Delights" compilation is this great collection of vintage psychedelic rock music from Turkey. With 22 tracks, spanning the years 1966-1975, this collection is a great introduction to the fantastic, long-lost Middle Eastern acid rock scene. These bands raved it up in Istanbul nighclubs, blending the Western garage-psych rock of the era with Turkish folk influences (electic fuzz saz!), bellydancing beats, and all manner of "exotic" flourishes. part1 part2

btw, no need to talk about orgasm, but i find pretty encouraging that sarcasm/cynisism/nihilism are "appreciated" somewhere; at least, some profound thinking is involved in forming such attitudes or opposing them...

I'm having trouble de-compressing your files. I'm using UnRarX on a Mac. It tells me that a password is needed to unzip the files. This only seems to happen with RAR files from Chocoreve. Anyone have any sugggestions?

it's towards the very bottom of the page. the bit rate is kinda shite, 128 Kbps, but it's free so it's hard to complain.

To the commenter re UnRarX on a Mac: you need a password to unextract the files form chocoreve. Look on the page you get the download link from. The password is clearly there, under the rapidshare links.

Appreciate your post of Eastern Psych! I'm a little bit out of phase about it. is there any small chance to see here Cambodia Rocks album?

Just look for "PW" near the posting and you'll find your password. I'm on a mac, have been since 1990...I use Stuffit and it also asks for Pass Word.

Wow- more fantastic stuff. Thanks, thanks, thanks. The best music blog anywhere, by far. I'm especially loving the global garage music. You're taste is much better than mine, so just keep doing what you're doing, but I'm always on the lookout for more UK acid folk (I loved the History of underground UK folk comp a few months ago).
