Kaleidoscope - La Ciruela Electrica (Mexican Psych-monster 1968)

New CD version of this monster psych classic from Mexico City c.1968/69, one of the rarest and most desired psychedelic albums of all time! A great album, with all songs in English—heavy grooves, super fuzzified guitar and a raving, ranting, drooling savage garage sound.
Incredible Mexican mind expander from the late '60s that could have easily been on an 'Endless Journey' comp. Mind frying fuzz guitars, electronic psychedelic effects, swirling keyboards and drugged lyrics/vocals in English. A major find for fans of the genuine article....

Tomorrow - (Tomorrow (British Psychedelia 1970)

Alongside contemporaries Pink Floyd and The Soft Machine, Tomorrow are considered one of the leading lights of the late sixties London psyche scene, but failed to have the success of the former or influence of the latter.
Not that this detracts from the quality of their music, the small amount that exists, and they produced one definite classic in "My White Bicycle." Cutting their teeth in R & B outfits such as Four Plus One, The Fairies and The Syndicats, Keith West (vocals), Steve Howe (guitar), John 'Junior' Wood (bass) and John "Twink" Alder (drums), left their roots behind and headed in a whole new direction. As The In Crowd the foursome released three credible mod singles on Parlephone, but once they became Tomorrow in 1966, something in the air or something they were taking sent them into the stratosphere.
Their first effort with the new moniker was the fabulous My White Bicycle (1966), with crazed backwards guitar and lyrics extolling the virtues of Amsterdam's fabled free method of transportation.
The single sold well and soon the band were a big draw at underground London clubs such as UFO. But problems occurred when West released his solo effort Excerpt From A Teenage Opera (1967), with a much more mainstream sound that sold boatloads.
The band lost some momentum with the vocalist dividing his time between the two ventures. They did find time, however, to release one fine self titled album (1968), featuring great production and amazing songs such as the gentle "Hallucinations" and the catchy "Revolution."
But time was up for Tomorrow. West focused on his solo career, Howe went on to form Yes while Twink beat the traps in The Pretty Things.

In the summer of 1969, John Dawson was looking to showcase his songs while Jerry Garcia was looking to practice his brand new pedal steel guitar. The two played in coffeehouses and small clubs initially, and the music they made became the nucleus for a band—the New Riders of the Purple Sage.
That same year, David Nelson, expert in both country and rock guitar, joined the group on electric lead guitar. Filling out the rhythm section in those early days were Grateful Dead drummer Mickey Hart and engineer Bob Matthews on bass, who was later replaced by Phil Lesh. In 1970, Dave Torbert took over on bass and the New Riders played every chance they got. Soon enough, smoky clubs all over the San Francisco bay area were filling up with whooping, foot-stomping crowds as their music got tighter and more dynamic. They began to tour extensively with the Dead, and in December of 1970, Spencer Dryden, who had previously showed his impeccable drumming style with the Jefferson Airplane, had stepped in on drums.
An excitingly creative band with a special brand of music—sweet country harmonies mixed with pulsing rock rhythms.
The New Riders were signed to Columbia Records in 1971 by Clive Davis and their eponymous first album, New Riders of the Purple Sage, was released in September of that year to widespread acclaim.

We the People - Mirror of our Minds (1966 US Psychedelia)

Rising from the crowded garage band underbelly of '66 suburban America, Florida's We The People proved to be an unbelievably dynamic aggregation; versatile in the true sense of the word.
From punkish R&B screamers and eastern-toned proto-psych mini-masterpieces to Kinks, soul and pure pop-flavored gems, this fivesome covered all the bases with consistently amazing results.
Hailing from Florida and releasing little more than a handful of singles during their tenure, We The People are shown by this Sundazed Records double-disc collection to be creative, talented, and exciting.
Best known for the title track and "You Burn Me Up and Down," both found on Rhino's exquisite "Nuggets" 4-cd box set, We The People offer up heaping helpings of prototypical garage grunge.
The vast majority of the 40 tracks on this set are originals, and the band especially shines on attitudinal rockers such as "When I Arrive."
This set certainly ranks as one of the best 1960s garage offerings available.

Saturday Looks Good To Me - All Your Summer Songs & Every Night

Fred Thomas' Saturday Looks Good to Me is one of these bands, a large Michigan-based collective trying their hand at familiar oldies-station molds: walls of sound with bricks of brass and stringed instruments, arpeggio-heavy prom themes, shy soul, and surf grooves with radio-friendly ambitions.
All of these songs are filtered through enough layers of reverb and ambient noise (courtesy of knob-twiddling from Thomas and His Name Is Alive's Warn Defever) to sound like they're coming from the past-their-prime speakers of Dad's old station wagon, a process that, paradoxically, strips them of their nostalgia and lends them fresh personality

On this day in 1971, Led Zeppelin's performance at the Paris Theatre in London is recorded for the BBC. Parts of the concert would air on John Peel's BBC Rock Hour on April 4.
After an introduction of the band, they tear into "Immigrant Song" which leads nicely into "Heartbreaker." "Since I've Been Loving You" is next, followed by a new one by the name of "Black Dog" which fakes the audience out with its "Out on the Tiles" intro.
"Dazed and Confused" follows for 18::36. Then another new song is played, this one called "Stairway to Heaven." It starts off slow and then goes into a loud frenzy. A quiet acoustic number called "Going to California" follows, then "That's the Way" with Plant on tambourine.
They go into "What is and What Should Never Be," then "Whole Lotta Love" is next, and goes on to include many classic blues songs. "Boogie Chillen," "Truckin' Little Mama," "Fixin' to Die," "That's Alright," "For What it's Worth," "A Mess of Blues," "Honey Bee," and "The Lemon Song" are among the numbers ventured into during the medley.
If you never heard this 22:40 Whole Lotta Love don't miss it !!

Velvet Underground - Live at Max's Kansas City 2 CD Remastered with Bonus Tracks

I never accept to repost my files and I never pay attention to special requests unless they come from a special friend, so here ya go woj.

This set is historically significant for several reasons.
The most immediate sonic reason being this is the first LP appearance of then 17' year old drummer Billy Yule. Billy's drumming is completely different from Moe Tucker's (who left temporarily to have a child), it's Rock n' Roll drumming with lots of drum rolls, fills and flash, a great departure from Moe's more sparse and primitive style.
Personally, I find young Billy's style ameteurishly over the top, but it's not so detracting or distracting to take away from the overall ambience of the album. This is also Lou Reed's last night with the Velvet Underground-- Doug Yule and Tucker (rejoining the group after her pregnancy) soldiered on for another year and a half touring, but it wasn't really the Velvet Underground by that point. The remastering of the sound for this CD is quite amazing.
For those of us that grew up with the original LP release, it's hard to believe they were able to pull the sound quality up to this degree.
